Signs Your Vehicle Needs an Oil Change

With your oil maintenance reminder and warning lights on your dashboard, your vehicle helps remind you when an oil change is needed. While you'll generally want to schedule an oil change near Newark, OH, every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, there are some signs that you may need to visit our service center sooner, including:

• Dark and gritty oil
• Blue or gray exhaust smoke
• Burnt oil smell
• Knocking, rumbling or ticking engine noises

Why Regular Oil Changes are So Important

Motor oil is an integral component of your vehicle's performance. Not only does it keep your engine cool, but it also lubricates important components and removes potential contaminants. Over time, motor oil gets dirty and thick, losing its ability to do its job effectively. Without fresh oil, the unchecked heat, unlubricated components, and contaminants can cause significant damage to your engine. With routine oil changes, you can avoid costly repairs and enjoy optimal efficiency on every journey around Columbus, OH, and beyond.

Synthetic vs. Conventional Oil

When you change your vehicle's oil, you want to ensure you're using the correct oil. Luxury models may require special attention, and our expert service team can help guide you in the right direction. While most vehicles require synthetic oil, Jeff Drennen Cadillac can provide access to quality brands that are optimal for your specific Cadillac model.
